MULTAN: Chief Executive Officer Mepco Engineer Fazal Ullah Durrani said that Mepco had saved over Rs 1.1 billion during last eight months by decreasing one percent line losses.
During a meeting with delegation of Pakistan Steel Mills Karachi here on Tuesday, he said that progressive losses which were 15.7 percent in the last year, had now been reduced to 14.7 percent during the last eight months (July 2015 to February 2016).
He said that Mepco had imposed fine Rs. 460.6 million on 66965 power pilferers in nine circles of the region.
He said that applications had been sent to concerned police stations for registration of cases against 3308 power pilferers out of which 177 cases had been registered.
He further added that there were 5286505 consumers of Mepco including 4666604 domestic, 487637 commercial, 52259 industrial, 78019 agriculture tube well and 1966 others.
He said that there were 260 power transformers in all grid stations of Mepco while 151618 distribution transformers were providing electricity to consumers across the south Punjab.
The delegations of Pakistan Steel Mills Karachi was including Chief Chemist Syed Arshad Hussain Asharfi, Nasar Ullah Durrani, Muhammad Ijaz Saddique, Tanvir Ahmed Khan and Muhammad Aslam.
