imageLAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said the government was utilizing all available resources to overcome energy crisis in the country.

Talking to assembly members, he said owing to effective energy policy of the government, the country would be able to generate ample electricity by 2017.

He said that overcoming the challenge of electricty shortage would lead to improvement in industrial and agricultural sectors.

The Chief Minister said that energy crisis was adversely affecting economic and trade activities in the country, however, the government was adopting measures to overcome electricity crisis on war-footing.

He said, scores of mega power projects were being launched with the cooperation of Chinese companies.

He said, special incentives were being offered to investors for projects in energy sector. He said that work was also being carried out on projects for energy generation through gas, coal, hydle, solar, biomass, bio-gas and other resources.

The Chief Minister maintained that work was also being carried out speedily on 1320 megawatt coal power plant in Sahiwal with the cooperation of China and the said the project would start generating electricity by the end of 2017.
