PR to shape up land management system by June next

Published Updated

imageLAHORE: Pakistan Railways would complete management work of its land record under modern arrangements with the aim to evaluate exact position of PR land across the country by June 2016.

PR sources told APP here on Tuesday, that a Land Record Management Information System (LRMS) is being developed with the support of Urban Unit of the Punjab government and an agreement has already been signed in this regard.

It would be possible to inform about the ownership, location and condition of the PR property and land after the completion of the work.

PR Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique is hopeful that millions acres of railways land would be recovered after the formation of system and transparency could be made in the matters of land and property.

PR is also struggling to win the "Title of Land" in the name of the railways from the provinces and the work on the project has already been under progress on the directions of the PR minister. The work on "Title of Land" has almost been completed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and authorities of other provinces are also being contacted in this regard.

The Pakistan Railways has also started work on value additioning of its land through a transparent system and 300 shops are being developed with the investment of three PR companies including PRACS, RAILCOP and REDAMCO.

PR administration is determined to construct more 1000 shops during the current year, sources said. The value additioning will be helpful in generating revenue for Railways and it would also strengthen financial position of the companies.
