Shipping activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port where three ships carrying containers, canola seeds and edible oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FAP Terminal and LCT Terminal respectively on Sunday, August 22, 2011.
Berth occupancy was maintained at 45pc at the Port Qasim on Monday where a total of five ships namely Maersk Carolina, M.V Afamia, M.V Gera Simos and SC Halkoll are currently occupying berths to load-offload containers, cement, canola seeds and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
A volume of 31,546 tonnes,comprising 24,967 tonnes import cargo and 6,579 tonnes export cargo inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 869 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 24 hours.
A total four ships M.V Maersk Carolina, M.V Tycoon II, M.V Afamia,and SC Haikoll sailed out to sea during last 24 hours.
