imageISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will establish heat stroke centres at all government and private hospitals including basic health units(BHUs) and to arrange all necessary emergency medicines for heat stroke victims.

The centres are being established after directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to take response measures in view of the recent heat wave in Karachi, leading to unfortunate deaths, said a news release issued here on Tuesday.

NDMA is taking response measures with the help of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh and National Health Emergency Preparedness Response Network (NHEPRN).

NDMA is also coordinating with emergency services like Edhi, Chhipa and Rescue 1122 etc. for timely transportation of the effected persons.

NDMA has directed PDMA Sindh to activate emergency helpline to address needs of the effected people on priority and start awareness campaign for them to adopt preventive measures

Chairman NDMA, also asked Corps Commander Karachi to render assistance in this regard.

The Corps Commander informed that Army and Rangers have already been proactively pursuing the establishment of heat strokes centres for general population since last two days in entire provincial cantonments/Rangers established.

NDMA is constantly monitoring the situation in coordination with PDMA Sindh and is ready to facilitate the Provincial authority in given circumstances.
