Pop star Mariah Carey is an American singer and she has officially signed her deal with Sony Music. Carey's vocal style and singing ability has significantly popular in contemporary music.
According to foreign media reports, Carey’s return to Epic sees her reunite with Doug Morris, who signed the singer to ‘Island Def Jam’ in 2003. Morris is now CEO of Sony Music, Epic’s parent company. Carey started her career as a signee of Sony’s Columbia Records. Carey came to prominence after releasing her self-titled debut studio album Mariah Carey in 1990 under Sony Music.
Carey’s most recent album ‘Me I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse’ was released in 2014. Her final album for Def Jam, it reached No 3 in the US and No 14 in the UK. It featured collaborations with Nas, Miguel, Wale and Fabulous. It has sold 117,000 copies in the US, the lowest-selling of Carey’s career.
Mariah Carey has collected many awards in her music career, including the World Music Awards’, Best selling Female Artist of the Millennium, the Grammy’s best new artist in 1991, and Billboard’s Special Achievement Award for the Artist of the Decade during the 1990s. In her career, Carey has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, making her one of the best selling music awards of all time.
