Intra-city fares to be slashed by five percent: Transport Secretary

KARACHI: Sindh Secretary for Transport, Taha Farooqui talking to APP Thursday sounded confident that intra-city bus fares in the province would be slashed by a minimum five percent with immediate effect.

Sharing details of the meeting with the transporters in his office the same morning, he said the deliberation was focussed on single agenda and that was providing relief to the commuters.

"Fares have to be slashed in proportion to the reduction made in the POL rates," he said.

In reply to a question, Farooqui said he was conscious of the problems faced by the commuters, with specific reference to maintenance of the vehicles plying on the roads.
