ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways will run Metro and Safari trains in Lahore and Circular train in Karachi soon.
An official of Pakistan Railways while talking to APP here said that feasibility study of the Safari and Metro trains would hopefully be ready within three months.
He said that Circular train in Karachi would be restarted next year with the help of Sindh government.
He said that steps have been taken to revive several railway shops for smooth flow of system. He said that strict action was being taken against the elements allegedly involved in corruption in Railways.
He said the government was making efforts to streamline the system in all the sectors including Railways to cut losses of billions of rupees.
He said measures have been taken to increase the speed of trains covering long distances with possible shortest time.
Land and houses of Railways have been recovered during operation against the land mafia, he added. He said land record of Pakistan Railways would be computerised.
He said steps were being taken to preserve the railway heritage in its true spirit. He said negotiations were being held with foreign banks to start work on feasible projects on easy terms and conditions, so that railway passengers could avail better travel facilities in near future.
