Twitter copies Snapchat to woo its users

Following the trend of social media giants including Instagram and Facebook, Twitter is also on the path to copy Snapchat by introducing a section that would let users share videos, similar to Snapchat’s ‘Discover’.

In order to improve user experience, rumors are circulating that the micro blogging platform is working on a feature that will make it easier for the users to share videos, taking its inspiration from Snapchat, Bloomberg reports.

Twitter’s latest tool would combine location-based videos and photos under the ‘Moments’ section. The report further says that this upcoming video feature would allow Twitter users to record videos from the application’s camera, which will be introduced along with the feature. However, details about the final design and launch date of the video feature have not been announced.

However, the micro-blogging site declined to comment.

More blue ticks are coming for Twitter users: CEO

Speculations are that the upgrade is a ploy by Twitter to draw more advertisers. Similar to how advertisements appear in between Snapchat users’ stories, the updated ‘Moments’ section in Twitter would enable brands to place sponsored content among the several user-tweeted videos and photos.

At present, the process of sharing a video on Twitter requires its users to click through a number of buttons. According to Daily Mail, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has even confessed that his own application can be confusing at times.

Currently, the update is being tested among Android and iOS users. If all goes well, Twitter might roll out the video feature anytime.
