The Supreme Court (SC) dismissed on Wednesday another contempt of court petition against deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The petitioner Sheikh Ahsanuddin said that Sharif had made derogatory speech against the judiciary during his speeches at the GT Road rally. Ahsanuddin further said that Sharif had crossed all limits in his speech, local media reported.

The bench, however, said that they did not find any limits being crossed by Sharif's speech at GT Road rally. The CJP observed that Sharif might have crossed the line in some other speech.

SC dismisses contempt of court petitions against Sharifs, other leaders

On Tuesday, the SC dismissed similar contempt of court petitions against several leaders, including Sharif. Justice Nisar said that the apex court will take up the cases at an appropriate time, while it was taking notice of the remarks being made regarding the judiciary.

The SC dismissed contempt of court cases against the deposed prime minister, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, captain (retd) Safdar, Minister for Privatization Daniyal Aziz, Railway Minister Saad Rafiq, former PM Yousuf Raza Gilani and Syed Iqbal Haider.

On Tuesday, the Sc had indicted Federal Minister for Privatization Daniyal Aziz over his anti-judiciary remarks. Aziz was indicted under Article 204 of the country’s constitution. The constitutions states that the person be punished if he has committed contempt of court.

Meanwhile, the SC has postponed Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry’s indictment in contempt of court case. The minister will be indicted on March 15.
