ZTBL disburses Rs75.7bn loans in Punjab
ISLAMABAD: The Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) disbursed loans of Rs75723.473 million in Punjab province during the fiscal year 2016-17, which is 81.9 per cent of the total disbursements made by the bank.
In total, as against Rs102500 million target of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the bank disbursed Rs92450.925 million among the all provinces during the period under review, official sources said.
According to the details, Sindh province got 13.7 per cent share out of the total loans. The province was provided with Rs12643.586 million against the SBP target of Rs14935 million.
Likewise, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province got Rs3200.867 million against the SBP target of Rs7300, the source said adding that this was the 3.5 per cent of the total disbursements made by the ZTBL during the year under review.
Only 0.3 percent of the total ZTBL loans were disbursed in Baluchistan province as the bank provided loans of Rs264.398 in the province against the SBP target of Rs6600.
Similarly, Gilgit was provided loans of Rs289.580 million against the target of Rs 665 million, which is 0.3 percent of the total disbursements.
The bank disbursed loans of Rs329.021 million in Muzaffarabad against the SBP target of RS500 million, which is 0.4 percent of the total ZTBK loans.
Meanwhile, the sources said that the bank has performed well over the past four years as its assets have increased from Rs148,448 million in 2013 to Rs215,561 million in 2016.
On the other hand, the overall non-performing loans (NPLs) have amounted to Rs614 billion out of total Rs6.6 trillion loans, however in in terms of percentage, NPLs declined when compared to the overall loans provided by the banks, SBP.
According to SBP sources most of the NPLs were in the agriculture sector, provided through the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL).
During the year 2011, the non-performing loans stood at Rs607 billion against total loans of Rs3.7 trillion. The non-performing loans remained the same in 2012 compared to Rs4.2 trillion overall loans, while declined to Rs582 million against 4.5 trillion total loans.
