KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair has called for an effective system of audit for maintaining transparency in the government institutions as well as the projects.

He was talking to the Auditor General of Pakistan, Javed Jehangir, who called on him at the Governor House here on Thursday.    Deputy Auditor General Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon and Accountant General Sindh, Farrukh Ahmed Hamidi, were also present.

Javed Jehangir also gave a briefing to the Governor on the occasion.

Zubair was of the view that a strong system of audit was also necessary to check the wastage of public money as well as any malpractices.

He also lauded the computerization of salaries and pensions of the government employees as well as other dues.

Governor said that after the conclusion of the financial year, the audit reports should be reviewed promptly. He said that development projects in the province are fast going ahead in collaboration of the federal government are in the final stages of completion.

Auditor General informed the Governor that the Public Accounts Committee has taken up for consideration the audit reports of the last financial year.
