NEW YORK: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has stressed that peace and stability in Afghanistan is vital for stability and prosperity of Pakistan.
The minister said this during a meeting here on Saturday with her Afghan counterpart Dr Zalmai Rassoul on the sidelines of the 66th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Foreign Minister expressed her deepest condolences and sympathies on the assassination of Burhanuddin Rabbani.
She added that the destinies of the two neighbours were intertwined and both should jointly fight against those elements which were working against the interest of the two countries and the region at large.
The two foreign ministers agreed to work closely for peace and stability in the region and for welfare and prosperity of their people.
