UAE's initiative comes after Pakistan grounded the pilots on June 26 on suspicion that they allegedly falsified their examinations to qualify for flying aircraft
The efforts of the government of Pakistan came to fruition, the ban on PIA was relaxed by the European Union, from today until July 3, flights to and from the UK and Europe will be allowed.
The minister said the pilots included 141 from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), nine from Air Blue, 10 from Serene Airline, and 17 from Shaheen Airlines.
The pilots and their union have rejected the list and demanded a judicial investigation.
The move follows the grounding of 262 Pakistani pilots whose licences the country's aviation minister termed "dubious".
EASA has temporarily suspended PIA's authorization to operate to the EU member states for a period of 6 months effective July 1, 2020 with the right to appeal against this decision.
“We are following reports from Pakistan regarding fake pilot licences, which are concerning and represent a serious lapse in the licensing and safety oversight by the aviation regulator,” an IATA spokesman said.
According to the schedule, from June 11 to June 15, 22 special flights carrying 7,000 Pakistanis will reach Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad, and Peshawar where coronavirus tests and data of passengers will be taken.
The loss earning national flag carrier, has got two options to survive either to go for massive lay-off or separate non-core services from the airline.
During the meeting, a time line for restructuring of the PIA and a comprehensive roadmap over reforms and implementation was also submitted before the prime minister.
Pakistan CAA has written a letter to PIA on the subject of "non-compliance of air traffic control (ATC) instructions by pilot in command (PIC) of PIA flight PK8303".
