Hafeez, five others to depart for England on Friday

The players will undergo another COVID-19 assessment in England before joining the team.

The second group of six Pakistan cricketers will travel to Manchester on Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced today (Wednesday).

Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, and Wahab Riaz will travel by the Pakistan National Airlines (PIA), the board said in a statement.

The six players upon their arrival in England will be transported to Worcestershire and will integrate with the side after they test negative in the ECB testing program.

Six players were retested against for COVID-19 via private lab instead of PCB-linked lab.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s squad of 20 players trained in Worcestershire for the first time yesterday.

Pakistan Head coach-cum-chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq enjoyed being on the field after a gap of almost three months. “It is good to be back on the field after a long time. We really enjoyed our session today and we are looking forward to continuing this positivity throughout the whole tour.”

It must be noted here that Pakistan will play three Tests and as many T20Is against England in August and September.
