sui-nothernRECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has stopped the gas supply to industries across Punjab following closure of Qadirpur Gas Field on account of technical fault.

The sources claimed that gas supply to the industries in Punjab has been halted due to the emergency shutdown of Qadirpur Gas Field which was supplying 400 mmcfd gas. Due to shutdown of the Qadirpur Gas Field supply of gas has been suspended to the industries in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur,

Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Sources also said that cement and textile industries would suffer the most from the shutdown while the CNG sector may also suffer if the shutdown goes worst.

Sources in the SNGPL said that supply of gas to the domestic sector is our priority. “As soon as the supplies are normalised further schedule shall be conveyed,” said SNGPL officials.

According to the SNGPL officials there staff is working day and night and hopefully  gas supply from this field will be restored in one or two days. “In order to save our system and to avoid total collapse, we have no option but to increase curtailment in industrial sector under the prevailing conditions,” said SNGPL officials.
