KARACHI: The representatives of the Dairy Farmers Associations have announced the withdrawal of the recent hike in milk prices.
This was announced in a statement of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) on Saturday.
It said that in a meeting chaired by Administrator Karachi, Muhammad Hussain Syed, at the Civic Center here on Saturday, representatives of Dairy Farmers Association in Karachi while apologising to Karachiites announced to withdraw the recent raise in milk prices and said that till any decision in this regard, they will continue to sell the milk on the rates fixed by the government.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of Consumer Rights Council Karachi, Chairman Consumer Association of Pakistan, Chairman Consumer Forum Karachi, Chairman Help Line Trust Karachi, General Secretary Karachi Dairy Farms Association, and representatives of Fresh Milk Wholesalers Association.
The City Government Karachi was represented in the meeting by EDO E&IP, EDO Agriculture, Additional EDO Revenue, District Officer Livestock and other officers in the meeting.
On this occasion, Administrator Karachi thanked Karachi Dairy Farmers Association and other representatives of concerned organisations for announcing to sell fresh milk on old rates.
He said that a committee will be formed to solve the problems of Dairy Farmers Association of Karachi and he will himself head the committee.
The meeting of this committee will be held on March 24. He said that he will personally visit the markets on Sunday morning and no (no) raids will be conducted on milk sellers' shops from Sunday.
