Brisk shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Shipping activity remained brisk at Port Qasim where a ship carrying containers was berthed at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday, March 17.

Meanwhile two more ships carrying containers also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was 50% at the Port on Thursday where a total of six ships namely, NYK Kai, M.V Sapphire-II, Hyang Ro Bong, M.V Alfa Nourios, Xin Xiang Hai and Nikolos are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, urea, and coal respectively during last 24 hours.

A cargo volume of 31,385 tonnes comprising 23,117 tonnes imports and 8,268 tonnes exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 344 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port.

NYK Kai sailed out to sea on Friday morning while Alfa Nourios were expected to sail on same day.

MV Saudi Tabuk, MV Glory and Akaki were expected to take berth at QICT and FOTCO Terminals on Friday, March 18.
