MANAMA: Bahraini opposition leaders vowed on Thursday to press on with "peaceful" pro-democracy demonstrations, despite the military force used to try to quell their protests.
"We will not give up to the army," Sheikh Ali Salman, the head of al-Wefaq association, said at a news conference by the alliance of six Bahraini opposition groups.
"We insist on the peaceful aspect of our activities and we shall not be dragged into confrontations with security forces," he added, according to an emailed transcript of his statement.
