HYDERABAD: Sindh Home Minister Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza has asked the officers concerned to carry out a detailed investigation regarding alleged supply of arms and ammunition and cellular phone to prisoners.
The provincial home minister issued such directives while reviewing the law and order situation in a meeting held here on Wednesday night, which attended among others by the Regional Police Officer Hyderabad Syed Mushtaq Shah, Deputy Inspector General Police Hyderabad Zone Sanaullah Abbasi, District Police Officer Hyderabad Pir Fareed Jan Sarhandi and Superintendent Central Prison Hyderabad Pir Shabbir Jan Sarhandi.
Appreciating the performance of the police and jail administration in bringing the normalcy back in the Central Prison Hyderabad, the minister also directed the reconstruction and repair of all damaged walls and barracks of the prison which were tried to break by the agitating prisoners for escape on priority basis.
He also underlined the need of adopting foolproof security arrangements in the jail premises in order to avert any attempt of breaking the jail or law and order situation which experienced two days back.
He appreciated the performance of the jail administration and the police for recovering arms and ammunition, mobile phones and other illegal things from the possession of the prisoners as well as unearthing the factory of illicit liquor, but emphasized that detailed investigation is need to find out the persons who supplied all such things to the prisoners inside the jail.
The minister also praised the efforts of those police officers and officials who received injuries while maintaining law and order situation during armed scuffle in the jail and maintained not to comprise on the writ of law at any cost.
Earlier, the minister was briefed about the incident as well as the efforts for brining normalcy in Central Prison Hyderabad.
