ISLAMABAD: The Ministry for Environment has finalized a draft bill for imposing ban on production of non- biodegradable plastic bags.
Talking to APP on Thursday an official of Environment Ministry said after the 18th amendment of the constitution ,the ministry is making efforts to enact this legislation through provincial governments.
The bill also envisages to introduce biodegradable bags for safety of human health.
Replying to a question , he said the ministry has taken a number of steps to improve the environmental condition in the country.
He said standards related to air, water and noise have been approved by the Environmental Protection Council.
Seven air monitoring stations have been established in Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta to check pollution level, in addition three mobile monitoring stations are also working in Islamabad , Lahore and Karachi, he informed.
