LONDON: The euro extended losses against the pound on Thursday to fall below 78 pence for the first time since October 2008 as investors looking for a safe haven outside the indebted euro zone stepped up their selling of the single currency.
The euro fell 0.5 percent on the day to hit a more than 3-1/2 year low of 77.985 pence.
