Sindh government focusing on preventive measures of health

KARACHI: The Sindh Government is now focusing more on the preventive measures rather than on remedial one.

This was stated by the Deputy Secretary Health, Sindh, Jamaluddin Shaikh.

He was addressing as chief guest in a training workshop certificate programme on disposal of hospital’s laboratorial wastages particularly pathological related materials.

The moot was organized by the Virology and Tissue Culture Laboratory, Department of Microbiology, Jinnah University for Women (JUW), says a statement here on Sunday, It said that the workshop was a joint effort of four organization.

Dr. Shazia T. Hakim, Chairperson Department of Microbiology, JUW,and the Principle Organizer of the workshop, in her introductory note said that this workshop is an integrated effort on training of health-care workers (HCWs) as a model solution to solve the basic health related issues and problems in conventional healthcare system of a developing country like Pakistan.

She said that the project aims at education and training of HCWs who are at high risk personnel and could become infected by dangerous pathogens like Hepatitis B, C, HIV and Tuberculosis just because of unsafe practices in clinical settings.

A total number of 25 participants of the workshop were selected on the basis of their previous knowledge and exposure to these kind of trainings from 250 government and private sector hospitals and pathological laboratories of the city.

They will help the organizers in spreading the awareness aboutsafe laboratory practices among community of healthcare workers.
