War on terror policy crumbling social, economic sectors of Pakistan

KARACHI:A report of social policy and development centre in its annul review suggests that the war on terror is crumbling Pakistan’s social and economic sectors.

The report mentions the high cost of war from Rs.380 billion to Rs.840 billion which represents the fiscal burden on budget constrain in both Federal and Provincial government level.

The cost of war is three times greater than the bilateral assistance Pakistan is receiving from the United States.

The report pointed out and explored various facets of the security crisis that there have been failures of both institutional and social development policies of the respective government through spreading violence and extremism.

The report also suggests that the government should take immediate action to reduce poverty and maintain social justice in the society which is considered an essential element to stop terrorism.
