Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 48,247 tonnes of cargo comprising 34,990 tonnes of import cargo and 13,257 tonnes of export cargo including 2,327 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The Karachi Port handled 48,247 tonnes of cargo comprising 34,990 tonnes of import cargo and 13,257 tonnes of export cargo including 2,327 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 34,990 tonnes comprised of 31,176 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,173 tonnes of canola and 1,641 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 13,257 tonnes comprised of 6,207 tonnes of containerised cargo and 7,050 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,327 containers comprising of 2,004 containers of import and 323 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 678 of 20's and 621 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 42 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 163 of 20's and 72 of 40's loaded containers while 16 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Robert Rickmers, Cosco Aden, Diyala, MT Shalamar and DS Cougar carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Botany Bay, Wan Hai-611, Clemens Schulte, Robert Rickmers, Nordic Pia, Oriental Cosmos, YM Jupiter and Great Cosmos carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Oriental Cosmos carrying oil tanker expected to sail on Tuesday while another ship namely Botany Bay carrying containers is expected to sail on Wednesday.
There are two vessel viz. OOCL California and SC Ningbo carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while four more vessels viz. CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Iliana, Africa Star and Han Xin carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 130,718 tonnes comprising of 92,148 tonnes of import cargo and 38,570 tonnes of export cargo including 3,744 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 92,148 tonnes includes 25,619 tonnes of coal; 6,500 tonnes of palm oil; 15,000 tonnes of canola; 6,720 tonnes of LPG; 5,743 tonnes of general cargo and 32,566 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 38,570 tonnes includes 38,570 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,744 containers comprising of 1,714 containers import and 2,030 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely GSL Eleni carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Ggiulia, SSI Victory and Kazak carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola, LPG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve vessels viz. MOL Courage, Robert Rickmers, MSC Valencia, Calypso-N, Universal Bremen, Star Topaz, BW Kobe, Lyric Poet, Serena-R, Adnes, Sovereign and Horizon carrying containers, coal, soyabean, cement, chemical, gasoline and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MSC Valencia, Maersk Hartford, Robert Rickmers and Adnes carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Al Oriq carrying LNG due to arrive on Tuesday while two more ships namely MOL Globe and Maersk Hartford carrying containers are due to arrive on Wednesday.
