The Karachi Port handled 103,630 tonnes of cargo comprising 62,829 tonnes of import cargo and 40,801 tonnes of export cargo including 3,711 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargos of 62,829 tonnes comprised of 23,499 tonnes of containerised cargo; 36,180 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 40,801 tonnes comprised of 20,462 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,713 tonnes of clinker; 8,580 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 8,046 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,711 containers comprising of 1,640 containers of import and 2,071 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 490 of 20's and 556 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 19 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 573 of 20's and 306 of 40's loaded containers while 300 of 20's and 293 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Kabul, Diaporos, Botany Bay, Fairchem Copper, Dubai Crown and Sun Globe carrying containers, chemical, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. APL Thailand, Navig-8 Amethyst and Dolphin Star carrying containers, tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ships namely Cembay carrying cement expected to sail on Thursday.

There are four vessels viz. Thor Sky, MOL Gateway, Cosco Kaohsiung and Maple carrying containers and tanker respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three more vessels viz. Al-Tonia, Northern Discovery and Al Mahboobah carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 201,468 tonnes comprising of 140,022 tonnes of import cargo and 61,446 tonnes of export cargo including 4,288 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 140,022 tonnes includes 77,979 tonnes of coal; 5,500 tonnes of mogas; 5,700 tonnes of palm oil; 1,442 tonnes of project cargo; 29,375 tonnes of LNG and 20,026 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 61,446 tonnes includes 61,446 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,288 containers comprising of 1,054 containers import and 3,234 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

There were two ships namely MOL Gateway and Spruce-2 carrying containers and mogas respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely MSC Tomoko and Maersk Jalan carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, LNG, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as sixteen vessels viz. Aristomenis, Maersk Jalan, Tiger Winter, Chemroad Haya, Al-Mahboobah, The Odosia, Al-Salam-II, Jal Upasan, Antartica, Stena Imprimis, NH Singapore, Maple, Tiger Harmony, FCL London, Tiger Tenacaty and Horizon carrying containers, chemical, mogas, condensate, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Hugo Schulte, Aristomenis, Al-Mahboobah and Jal Upasan carrying containers, chemical and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There is one ship namely Hugo Schulte carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while two more ships namely APL Thailand and Thorsky carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
