Capt A Moiz Khan, patron-in-chief, North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (Nkati), and Naseem Akhtar, president, have expressed concern over announcement by K-Electric of expected industrial load-shedding with the beginning of summer as a result of their cash flow constraints of Rs 50 billion from the Government of Sindh.
In an emergency meeting, Nkati leaders said that the raised conflict between the Government of Sindh and K-Electric would lead to power breakdown in Karachi Industrial Zone which had already been a victim of the unexpected power closures in the past decades, the production and the capacity of our industry has struggled long enough and increased tax and power scarcity has made it impossible to run the operations.
Capt. A. Moiz Khan and Naseem Akhtar urged the government to resolve the issue and wondered why the industries of Karachi had to suffer despite it being K-Electric's major customer and had been ensuring timely payments of the bills and high recovery rate always, this industry had been playing a major role in running the economy of the country.
Nkati leaders said that if the situation remains same the industries will be compelled to shutdown.
