Punjab Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik has said that a total of 8200 schools would be shifted to solar energy by March 2020.

He was presiding over a meeting of the department to review the issues of net metering and installation of solar panels in the public sector schools.

He said the department was ensuring monitoring of schools on daily basis. He also warned the inspection inspectors of stern action against them in case of negligence.

He also vowed to solve the issue of over-billing to general consumers, saying that common man is in problem due to the high electricity tariff and over-billing.
