Pakistan aims to exponentially grow its business cooperation with Turkey, amid the much anticipated visit of Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday.

“We look at this visit as very very important. He [Erdogan] is bringing a strong business delegation with him, which shows his eagerness to bolster trade and economic ties with Pakistan,” said Abdul Razzak Dawood, the minister for commerce, textile, industry, production and investment, quoted Anadolu Agency.

“What I am expecting is that we already have the presence of Turkish companies here. But that’s not enough. We want these numbers double, even triple,” Dawood said, adding: “We want to increase cooperation with Turkish companies to benefit from their expertise in different sectors, mainly construction, tourism, engineering, food processing, chemicals, and information technology”.

Pakistan and Turkey are likely to ink Strategic Economic Framework (SEF) during the visit of Turkish President Erdogan, including defence, finance, trade, economy, customs, agriculture, banking and finance etc.

President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will arrive here on Thursday (today) on a two-day official visit for “further deepening and broadening of the flourishing Pakistan-Turkey strategic partnership".

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Aisha Farooqui, President Erdogan who is visiting Pakistan from February 13-14 on the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising cabinet members and senior government officials, as well as heads and CEOs of leading Turkish corporations.
