The Karachi Port handled 186,639 tonnes of cargo comprising 114,882 tonnes of import cargo and 71,757 tonnes of export cargo including 8,636 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 114,882 tonnes comprised of 61,301 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,233 tonnes of bulk cargo and 32,348 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 71,757 tonnes comprised of 38,826 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30,431 tonnes of clinker and 2,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,636 containers comprising of 4,227 containers of import and 4,409 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,406 of 20's and 1,329 of 40's loaded while 11 of 20's and 76 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 635 of 20's and 929 of 40's loaded containers while 330 of 20's and 793 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely CMA CGM Rabelais, MP The Mcginest, Al Mahboobah and Smart Tina carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels MP The Mcginest, Hyundai New York and Evgenia-K carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are four ships namely Botany Bay, Bulk Pride, Silver Millie and Evgenia-K carrying containers, clinker, mogas and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are two vessels viz. Cosco Belgium and CMA CGM Litani carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while six more vessels viz. OOCL California, CSCL Asia, Thorsky, X-Press Bardsey, Mandarin River and Bulk Paraiso carrying containers and clinkers respectively are expected to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 162,713 tonnes comprising of 128,396 tonnes of import cargo and 34,317 tonnes of export cargo including c loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 128,396 tonnes includes 37,950 tonnes of coal; 4,527 tonnes of palm oil; 17,125 tonnes of LNG; 71 tonnes of project cargo and 68,723 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 34,317 tonnes includes 5,817 tonnes of cement and 28,500 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 5,117 containers comprising of 3,617 containers import and 1,500 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were four ships namely Maersk Sentosa, African Kestrel, Althakhira and Bei Hai carrying containers, cement, LNG and Palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, cement, rice, coal, soyabean, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine vessels viz. IVS Hirone, SC Brilliant, BW Rhine, Georgia-M, Golden Tulip, Asphalt-II, Stene Important, Asia Liberty and Sloman Hebe carrying coal, chemical, diesel oil, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. X-Press Bardsey, Yasa Pembe, IVS Hirone, SC Brilliant, Ginga Cheetah and Stene Important carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely X-Press Bardsey carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while two more ships namely Kyoto Express and Hugo Schulte carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
