Diesel price to be hiked by Rs2.47 per litre, summary sent to govt

The summary on the prices of petroleum products has been sent to the government, it was learnt on Thursday.

As per details, under the summary, the diesel price is proposed to be hiked by Rs2.47 per litre. Whereas, petrol rates are proposed to decrease by six paisas per litre, kerosene rate is suggested to be slashed by 66 paisas per litre. Meanwhile, rate of light diesel oil is recommended to be increased by Rs1.10 per litre.

The final decision on the prices of petroleum products will be decided tomorrow (Friday).

If approved, the new price of diesel per litre will be increased from Rs127.26 to Rs129.73. Petrol price will be reduced by 6 paisas and will available at Rs116.56 from Rs116.60 per litre. Kerosene rate will be reduced from Rs99.45 to Rs98.79 paise per litre. Whereas, the price of light diesel oil will increase from Rs84.51 to Rs85.61 per litre.

Under the summary, the government has been proposed to levy tax of Rs18 per litre on diesel, and levy tax of Rs15 per litre on petrol. Whereas, tax of Rs6 on kerosene per litre has been advised, and levy of Rs3 on light diesel oil per litre has been proposed.

New prices will be applicable from 1st February, 2020.
