Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday ordered Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to monitor the inquiry into alleged illegal practices for awarding the government contracts of constructions in Gorakh hill station in province.

A division bench of the SHC headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh showed annoyance over the slow pace of inquiry into the case regarding contracts of Gorakh hill stations constructions and ordered Director General Operations NAB to personally appear in the hearing.

The Chief Justice remarked that NAB doesn't apprehend the big fishes and inquired NAB official whether he has ever visited Gorakh hill station.

The NAB prosecutor told the court that case is at the inquiry level when it would be converted into investigations phase, then they would visit the place.

The Chief Justice observed that inquiry is conducted against the people simply on the letters by sitting in Karachi. "Is it the way to hold investigations?", Justice Sheikh remarked.

The court extended the bail of accused of Tahir Awan till December 17, 2019 in this case.

Meanwhile, the SHC issued the notices to NAB officials in Rs 5.75 billion corruption scam in Sindh Information Department after Inam Akbar, Mansoor Rajput, Omar Shahzad and others moved the court for bail.

The court directed NAB to submit their replies by December 9 in the case. Former Sindh Information Minsiter Sharjeel Memon, former Secretary Information Zaulfiqar Shalwani, Alataf Memon and Saran Chando have been released on bail in the same case.
