  • Just days ago, Nepra announced an increase in electricity tariff by Rs1.82 per unit.

Electricity woes continue to haunt consumers as the government has started preparations to put a new an addition burden of Rs17.28 billion on electricity consumers.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has been requested by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) to collect Rs17.28 billion from the consumers.

The request for hearing the raise of electricity prices has been set. NEPRA will hold a hearing on November 20 on CPPA's request. Electricity prices are being raised in the wake of quarterly adjustments. If the application is approved, the increase will be implemented from next month.

Just days ago, Nepra announced an increase in electricity tariff by Rs 1.82 per unit, the decision is taken on account of fuel price adjustment for September, 2019. The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested Nepra to raise prices by Rs.2.97 per unit, after hearing CPPA's arguments Nepra raised electricity prices by Rs1.82 under the head of monthly fuel price adjustment.
