Prime Minister Imran Khan met with the members of Sindh Assembly belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) here at the Sindh Governor House. During the meeting, he said the local bodies system would help Karachi overcome its problems. He said the federal government was cognisant of Karachi's civic problems particularly relating to transport and waste management and was ready to play its role as per available resources.

Prime Minister, while calling Karachi the economic hub of the country, regretted that the previous governments ignored the problems of the metropolis and its people. He mentioned that his government inherited the heaviest burden of fiscal debt and steps were being taken to improve the financial situation. He said corruption was the major reason behind the poor situation of administration in Karachi.

The prime minister directed the federal ministers to enhance liaison with the PTI's members of provincial assembly. Minister for Planning and development Khusro Bakhtiar, on the occasion, made a detailed presentation with regards to the federal government funded development programme for Karachi.

He particularly referred to K-4 water project for Karachi assuring that the mega water supply scheme would be implemented at any cost. The meeting was attended by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Swati, Planning Minister Khusro Bakhtiar, Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Zaidi, Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, Special Assistant Nadeem Babar and Member of the National Assembly Asad Umar.

Meanwhile, a delegation of MQM called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Karachi on Monday. The delegation apprised the Prime Minister about various problems of the people of Karachi. The lawmakers complain against the attitude of federal ministers who were not listening to their problems for the last one month.

Imran Khan said that the federal government is fully aware of water, transport, waste management and other issues being faced by the residents of Karachi. He said Karachi is economic hub of Pakistan, but it is unfortunate that the people and issues of the metropolitan were ignored in the past.

The Prime Minister said local government system will be helpful in resolution of Karachi's problems. During the meeting with the delegation of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Prime Minister Imran Khan said the federal government would extend the coverage of "Ehsaas" and "Sehat Insaf" programmes up to interior Sindh. GDA delegation apprised him of the problems faced by the people of their constituencies.

The delegation consisted of Senator Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Ghous Bakhsh Mehr, members of the Sindh Assembly Mohtarma Saira Bano, Ali Nawaz Shah, Abdul Razzak, Ali Ghulam, Ali Gohar Khan Mehr, Arif Mustafa Jatoi, Hussain Ali Mirza, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Rashid Shah, Muhammad Shehryar, Khan Mehr, Nand Kumar Gokhani, Mohtarma Nusrat Sehar Abbasi, Shamsuddin and Variam Faqir, and newly-elected Sindh Assembly member Moazzam Abbasi.
