Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday held crucial discussions with Saudi leadership and underscored the need for resolving disputes in the Middle East peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy for regional peace.

Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, his special assistant on overseas Pakistanis Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari and Director General Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) Faiz Hameed, reached Saudi Arabia on a day-long visit on part of his peace mission aimed at resolving the disputes and differences between Tehran and Riyadh through talks. In his meetings with custodian of the Holy Two Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, the Prime Minister apprised them of his talks with Iranian leadership when he visited Tehran on Sunday, besides exchanging views on issues of mutual importance and enhancing the bilateral relations.

During his meeting with King Salman, the PM House's media office said that the leaders exchanged views on further enhancing the bilateral relations as well as discussing regional peace and global political situations. It further stated that Prime Minister Khan emphasized the need for resolving differences and disputes through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy for the sake of regional peace.

The Prime Minister also apprised the Saudi King of the situation in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting with King Salman was followed by a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman in which the two sides discussed issues of mutual interests, bilateral relations and regional situations.

Earlier, the Prime Minister and his delegation was received by Governor Riyadh Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Minister of State and National Security Advisor Dr Musaad bin Mohammed Al Aiban at Royal terminal of the King Khalid Airport Riyadh. Pakistan Ambassador in Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ijaz, Saudi officials and other officers of the Pakistan Embassy were also present at the airport to receive the Prime Minister and his delegation.

Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit is part of his initiative for peace and security in the region, following his visit to Iran. "Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are bound in a fraternal relationship marked by mutual trust and understanding, close cooperation, and an abiding tradition of supporting each other", said Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal. This was Prime Minister Imran Khan's third visit to Saudi Arabia this year. From the Saudi side, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman paid a state visit to Pakistan in February this year.
