supreme-court-of-pakistan KARACHI: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to write a letter to Swiss authorities to reopen cases against President Asif Ali Zardari, the media reported on Thursday.

Under the verdict the prime minister will inform the apex court on March 21 after writing the letter.

On March7, Justice Nasirul Mulk ordered Gilani’s counsel Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan to submit summaries pertaining to the case.

The two summaries, dated May 21 and September 21, 2010, contain advice and consultation asking the prime minister not to write a letter to the Swiss authorities for reopening of corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.

On Wednesday, Defence and Cabinet Secretary Nargis Sethi recorded her statement as defence witness in the case.

The Supreme Court ordered Sehti to appear before it again on Thursday for cross-examination.
