New Chairman, Deputy Chairman Senate to be nominated in consultation with allies: Dr Firdous

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Wednesday that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would nominate its candidates for the slots of Chairman and Deputy Chairman in consultation with coalition partners.

Addressing a press conference, she said, "Consultation with coalition partners in this regard is in progress while leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party has given mandate to its co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to nominate Senate Chairman and Deputy Chairman."

She said first phase of the Senate election has been completed while the process to appoint new Chairman and Deputy Chairman would be completed soon.

However, she hinted that candidates for the slot Deputy Chairman could be from Balochistan.
