MADRID: Spain suspended its diplomatic activities in Syria, the foreign ministry said Tuesday, amid a bloody crackdown on demonstrators by the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
"The activities of our embassy in Syria are suspended," a foreign ministry spokesman told AFP, without elaborating. Spain recalled its ambassador from Damascus last month citing the growing violence in the country.
