Published Updated

supreme-court-pakistanISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered pasting of a notice on residence of former president Pervez Musharraf, summoning his reply in a case related to registration of second FIR in murder case of late prime minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez issued the direction after resuming hearing of a plea moved by Aslam Chaudhry, Benazir Bhutto's former protocol officer.

The bench also ordered serving of notices to other respondents who had not yet filed their replies in the case despite court's orders.

The court also ordered to serving of notices upon Saud Aziz, Khurram Shehzad and Yasin Farooq through the Inspector General of Punjab Police.

The Punjab Prosecutor General also submitted a reply on behalf of CPO Rawalpindi and DPO and according to which the second FIR could not be lodged in the presence of first FIR as a challan had already been submitted with the trial court. He said that the petitioner was not an aggrieved party in the case.

The bench also accepted Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) request to become a party in the case and adjourned further hearing for two weeks.

Aslam Chaudhry, in his plea, is seeking apex Court's direction for registration of a second FIR against former President Pervez Musharraf and other respondents in Benazir Bhutto's assassination case.
