French journalists head home after Syria escape: embassy

BEIRUT: A plane transporting French journalists Edith Bouvier and William Daniels left Beirut for Paris on Friday, a day after the two were evacuated from Syria to Lebanon, a French embassy spokeswoman said.

"The plane has taken off towards Paris with two journalists on board," the diplomat told AFP.

An AFP photographer reported that two ambulances, escorted by several 4x4 vehicles, drove to the all-white French air force plane as journalists were kept at a distance.
