President Dr Arif Alvi said on Friday that Pakistan has emerged stronger while dealing with terrorism whereas India learnt nothing from the complex situations it was facing on its soil. While addressing the "National Interfaith Peace Conference" held at a local hotel on Friday, the President suggested the Indian leadership should learn the value of peace from Pakistan, besides respecting and protecting minorities living within its territorial boundaries.
"During the period of tension between the two neighbouring countries, every Pakistani was talking in favour of peace whereas hatred was being promoted within India," he said. "We are proud of our leadership, especially Prime Minister Imran Khan."
He added that the entire political leadership, people and media of the country endeavoured for peace and tried their utmost for de-escalation. Pakistan has been rendering valuable and unprecedented sacrifices for the establishment of peace at the cost of seventy thousand lives.
The President said he (Prime Minister) fully knows how to take care of minorities as ensured in the constitution. Expressing his apprehension, he said unrest in India would affect Pakistan. "Sectarian or religion-based hatred" in India could get out of control if not handled with sagacity and wisdom, he added.
The President further said that terrorism and extremism do not belong to any single religion and Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) preached for forgiveness and peace. He said the people of Indian-held Kashmir are struggling for their right to self-determination and they would keep giving sacrifices till the achievement of their fundamental rights. He said all the minorities are enjoying equal rights in Pakistan as per the constitution. He said the PTI government is fully committed to promoting inter-faith harmony and communal brotherhood in the country.
Earlier, MNA Shaneelah Rooth in her address stressed the need of promotion of inter-faith harmony and peace amongst the various communities to make Pakistan an epicentre of peace and tranquillity. She paid rich tribute to the soldiers of armed forces for rendering sacrifices for the protection of people of different faiths and restoration of peace.
