MCC Port Qasim Karachi has collected Customs duty of Rs 105 billion during the period of July-January of current fiscal year against Rs 83 billion collection in the corresponding period of 2017-18, registering a growth of 26 percent on year-on-year basis.
This collection shows 6.83 percent growth viz-a-viz assigned target of Rs 98 billion for the period. MCC Port Qasim collected Rs 16.43 billion customs duty in January 2019 which shows 33 percent growth against collection of Rs 12.35 billion in the corresponding month of last year and 11 percent growth against the assigned target of Rs 14.5 billion for the month.
During the period, the collection of sales tax stood at Rs 171 billion as against Rs 158 billion on year-on-year basis registering 8 percent growth, whereas collection of income tax remained Rs 37 billion against the last year collection of Rs 30 billion which shows 23 percent growth during the period under review.
MCC Port Qasim has recorded unprecedented growth of 14 percent in total revenue collection from Rs 275 billion to Rs 315 billion on year-on-year basis during the first seven months of FY registering positive growth of 14.54 percent. MCC Port Qasim has thus contributed significant share in total revenue collection by the FBR during the period. The Collectorate is of the view that the tremendous achievement was owing to the team work under the leadership of Ch Muhammad Javaid, Collector MCC Port Qasim.
