Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced the candidates for 10 national and 37 provincial assembly seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While, all parties, which were part of the Muttihada Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) will contest election on 12 tribal district seats independently.
The announcement was made by JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) provincial senior vice president, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan while chairing a meeting at the Al-Markaz-e-Islami Peshawar on Friday. The meeting was attended by JI provincial secretary general, Abdul Wasey, provincial leaders Dr Mohammad Iqbal Khalil, Sahibzada Haroon-ul-Rashid, Noor-ul-Haq, JI Fata secretary general Mohammad Rafiq Afridi and others.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad said under the MMA platform, the JI candidates will contest on National Assembly seats, include Maualana Abdul Akbar Chitrali will contest the general elections on NA-1 Chitral-I seat, Naveed Iqbal on NA-2 Swat, Sahibzada Tariqullah on NA-5 Dir Upper, Mualana Asadullah on NA-6 Dir Lower, JI ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on NA-7 Dir Lower, Saeed Mughal on NA-16 Abbottabad, Dr Attaur Rehman on NA-20 Mardan, Asif Luqman son of Qazi Hussain Ahmad on NA-26 Nowshera, Sabir Hussain Awan on NA-28 Peshawar, Mohammad Sadiqur Rehman Paracha on NA-31 Peshawar.
Similarly, he said those who will contest on JI tickets for the provincial assembly seats include former provincial minister Hussain Ahmad Kanju on PK-7 Swat, Mualana Fazal Subhan on PK-8 Swat, former provincial minister Inayatullah Khan on PK-12 Dir Upper, former provincial minister Muzaffar Said Advocate on PK-15 Dir Lower, Aizaz ul Mulk Afkari on PK-16 Dir Lower, Saeed Gul on PK-17 Dir Lower, former provincial minister Fazal Rabi Advocate on PK-55 Mardan, Haji Ihsanullah on PK-58 Charsadda, former provincial minister Hafiz Hashmat Khan PK-66 Peshawar, Kashif Azam Chishti on PK-72 Peshawar and Baharullah Khan on PK-78 Peshawar.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad said the list of all candidates will be issued today. While addressing at the meeting, he said after several deliberations, the MMA has decided that it will contest general election in the tribal districts on open/independent basis. According to decision, he said MMA candidates will contest the general polls independently in the tribal regions. He said no party will contest on symbol of scale, book and pen, while all candidates will be allotted symbols to contest as independent candidates in the tribal districts.
