Punjab Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Mian Nauman Kabeer said that special initiatives are being taken for the betterment of livestock and dairy development sector which will yield far-reaching impacts. Not only nutritious needs can be met but also earn huge foreign exchange by promoting this sector, he added.
This was stated by him while presiding a meeting held in University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Lahore, here today. VC UVAS Talat Nasir Pasha and senior faculty members were also present in the meeting.
VC UVAS gave briefing about the performance of the university to the Minister. He disclosed the university is providing all kinds of medical facilities. He said that medical facilities are being provided to the farmers at the doorstep with the cooperation of livestock department for enhancing the production of local breed besides imparting training to them. He said that quality meat is being provided to the people at the meat shop of the university at reasonable rates.
Mian Nauman Kabeer said that ostrich and duck forming is a commendable step of UVAS. He said that the university has historic significance. He urged the need of an awareness campaign regarding preservation of hides on Eid.
