Balochistan Chief Minister Alauddin Marri Tuesday announced that he will inaugurate Bostan Industrial Estate in Balochistan next week that would, according to him, boost the industrial and business activities in the province.
Speaking to businessmen at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), he assured the business community of his full support to invest in the industrial sector of the province, adding that they should benefit from the public-private partnership legislation that was enacted in recent times.
The caretaker CM was also hopeful about the increase in the legal trade when the fencing on the border connecting Balochistan with Afghanistan would be completed. "Once the fencing would complete, the documented economy in the province would generate high revenues and jobs for the country," he said.
Speaking on business opportunities in Gwadar, Marri said the provincial government is making efforts to resolve the issues in the port city. The desalination plant would resolve the water issue in the city whereas coal power plant would help to overcome the electricity crisis.
About the provision of land for the local industry for economic zone, Marri said that he wants to provide the incentives to local industry like the land allotted to Chinese for economic zone. He stated that he had some reservations on allotment of land as the plots allotted for industrial purposes should be utilized otherwise this allotment should be cancelled if the land was not utilized after certain time period.
Marri said that caretaker setup has limited mandate to take the policy decision, however it can set the guidelines for future. "We are doing the same so that next elected government can easily work to facilitate the business community," he added.
Caretaker CM told the businessmen that he provided 35 acres of land for construction of Expo Center in Quetta and invited FPCCI leadership to accompany him when he visits Gwadar next time to resolve the issues confronting it in Gwadar.
He noted that Balochistan is not a poor province because its sea, mountains and land are rich in terms of natural resources. We need to exploit all the resources to make the province and country developed and prosperous.
FPCCI President Ghazanfar Bilour said that Balochistan is ideally located to trade with Afghanistan, Iran and Central Asian States and urged that good governance in Balochistan can help to facilitate the business community to benefit from the opportunities in the province.
