The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to bring back former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's both sons and former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who had been declared proclaimed offenders by the Accountability Court, through Interpol.
Sharif's sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz are nominated in three corruption references filed by NAB while a reference about assets beyond known sources of income had been filed against Dar.
The NAB sources said the Bureau has also decided to bring back Ali Imran, son-in-law of Shahbaz Sharif, through Interpol. The NAB is also investigating a corruption case against Imran, they said.
They said the anti-graft watchdog will file an application to the Ministry of Interior. After the approval, the Ministry of Interior will refer the same to the director general (DG) FIA, head of National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol, Islamabad.
Sources said that FIA sends the required documents for issuance of red notice to Interpol headquarters. The Interpol's legal wing reviews the request of member countries for issuance of red warrant to ascertain whether the case is political or criminal, he said.
"If the Interpol determines that the case is criminal then red notice will be circulated to police in 192 members countries for action against the accused," he said, adding that red notices contain identification details and judicial information about the wanted person or persons.
NAB sources also said that it has also recommended to Ministry of Interior to place the name of Fawad Hassan Fawad, former principal secretary to Prime Minister, Ali Jan, Secretary Health Punjab, and Najam Shah, provincial secretary, on Exit Control List (ECL).
The NAB is conducting an investigation against Fawad for allegedly committing irregularities in Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC).
