Inspector General Police Sindh, A D Khawaja has said that with the help of Punjab IT board more than 1.4 million criminal records had been digitalized and Criminal Record Offices would be establish at every Jail of Sindh by the end of May 2018. Speaking at a meeting of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said that this record would also be helpful to verify the track record of the people seeking employment.
He said that 3000 more police personnel would be inducted in the force in Ramadan to curb street crime in the holy month.
He said for enhancing 15 responses, 300 motorcycles will be included for the patrolling.
He said that in last five month no incident of target killing has been reported.
He said that transparency in recruitments is a first step to reform police. "A selection board is in place, for physical test we out sourced Pak Army, and for eligibility NTS has been introduced" he said.
IGP said that 26,000 recruitments took place under the system and it was that much transparent that even I couldn't induct a single person in the force at my own wish.
He said that when I took the charge there was only 2200 personnel in Karachi's Traffic Police, now the number has been increased to 7500.
IGP said that land issues did not come directly under the police jurisdiction. However, he directed DIG East to follow the suggestion and work out a solution especially for the disputes in Mehran Town.
He also gave orders to provide three more police mobile vans to the KIA.
He said that Additional IG Mushtaq Mehar will take care of the matter of the Police stations induction in East zone.
He said that for the monitoring and better behavior of police, 85 reporting rooms had been established in police stations, community should come forward to help us out to improve the quality of police service while using this facility.
SM Muneer urged to establish committee, comprising representative of KDA, Districts Administration, police and business community to resolve land grabbing conflict in industrial areas.
President KATI Tariq Malik also applauded the performance of IGP Sindh. He added that there is an urgent need to curb street crime in Korangi Industrial Area.
Zubair Chhaya said that incidents of Kidnapping for ransom have now become negligible and extortion has been rooted out from the city.
He pressed that PS Sharafi Goth and Ibrahim Haidri should be included in East Zone instead of Malir.
Nadeem Khan said that addition Police Mobile Vans should be provided to Korangi Industrial Area.
Senior Vice President KATI Salman Aslam, Vice President Junaid Naqi, former Presidents/Chairmen of KATI, Gulzar Firoz, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Johar Qandhari, Zahid Saeed, Rashid Siddiqui, Zubair Habib and CPLC Chief also attended the meeting. The IGP was accompanied by Adl. IG Karachi Mushtaq Mahar, DIG East Zulfiqar Ali Lark, SSP Korangi Zulfikar Mehar and other senior police officials.
