Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has said that people have refused to accept the court's decision against him and his disqualification will have to be reversed through an overwhelming majority in the Parliament. "There is a way to change the decision that people vote PML-N to power in the coming elections," he said, addressing a rally in Mansehra, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Sunday. A large number of the party workers, central and provincial leaders, rallied at the venue. The event was badly-affected and had to be delayed owing to gusty winds and rain.
The PML-N supremo and daughter have been addressing rallies across the country as a part of their 'respect the vote' campaign following Nawaz's disqualification by the Supreme Court last year. The former premier said he was ousted for not taking salary from his son. He said people may bring him back by ensuring PML-N majority in parliament. He said all out efforts were being made to arrest him and send him behind the bars; however, the conspirators will face failure. He also assured people of Mansehra of development projects and infrastructure in their areas.
He said people had rejected Imran and now he would bring a 'real change' to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) because there was no change in KP and Sindh. He said new Pakistan could be seen in Lahore. 'If we get the opportunity to form the government once more, we will change the fate of KP and Sindh,' he said. Nawaz also claimed to have brought an end to load shedding, terrorism and peace restoration in Karachi. "Those conspiring against Pakistan have failed. Country does not belong to a few people rather it belongs to 220 million people," he said, adding that his call to respect the vote is a legitimate demand for people's respect.
Nawaz vowed his party would trounce political rivals Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by getting more votes than the previous election.
He said he saw pollution everywhere in KP province and had Shehbaz Sharif been serving as the KP chief minister, he would have turned it around like Punjab. He asked the opponents to t go to Punjab and witness the new Pakistan. He said even pilgrims were looted during the tenure of PPP but no one dared ask them. Federal Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Mohammad Yousaf, as an organiser of the event, said earlier that a 120 by 40 feet stage has been set up at the venue claimed to have made arrangements of over 100,000 people and the event was Hazara Division's biggest public gathering.
