The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday sent a defamation notice of Rs 50 million to Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah for issuing misogynistic remarks about party's female workers who attended its recent public meeting in Lahore. The PML-N leader was served the notice through PTI leader Uzma Kardar. The notice sent on the address of his Patiala House asks the minister to submit his response by May 07.
The PTI has been demanding an apology from Rana Sanaullah over his offensive remarks and the opposition lawmakers walked out of the assembly a day earlier after the minister declined to tender apology. In his own words: "I will not even say 's' of sorry," said Rana while addressing a session of the Punjab Assembly. "Opposition members keep asking me to say sorry but I will not," he asserted. He underlined that he withdrew his statement but would not apologise to anyone on the issue.
Sanaullah came hard on PTI social media teams, saying "they disrespect our sisters and mothers every so often." The PML-N minister on had issued deeply offensive statements on Monday saying that women who attended the PTI rally at the Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore were indecent as their gestures 'appeared'. Rana Sanaullah also raised 'concerns' over 'character' of women supporters of the PTI. "The women who attended the rally were not from honourable families because their dance moves implied where they had actually come from."
