The Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association (PCMA) has initiated a 'Motor Management Program' aimed at reducing production cost of the Chemical units. The program was introduced at a training workshop addressed by number of experts including Shahid having core expertise in energy management, safety and loss prevention. The workshop was largely attended by the representatives of different chemical industries. The professionals related to the field of operation management, plant supervisors and plant maintenance took active part in the discussion held on the subject.
The experts were of the view that awareness and training on practical perspective of the motor management could be useful to implement motor management program based on simple, actionable methods and processes. They observed that electric motors represent a significant cost to industry, not just in the purchase and maintenance, but also in the energy to be consumed by them.
Iqbal Kidwai, Secretary General of the PCMA, while highlighting the goal of this training session, informed the audience that the motor management program was devised by the PCMA leadership to control augmenting cost of energy in the production units. Therefore, a series of training workshops have been initiated to provide the chemical manufacturers with guidance and suggestions for developing a useful motor management program based on simple, actionable methods and process, he said.
